Businesses invited to free one-to-one support clinics

Croydon businesses are being offered the chance to attend free one-to-one support clinics to help boost their business.

Hosted by the Croydon Business Network, the sessions will offer a wide range of support whether it’s for entrepreneurs wanting to develop their business idea or those who have already set up companies that want to learn more about how to grow their existing businesses.

Specialist advisors will be on hand to provide advice and top tips on key areas including finance and funding; marketing and social media promotion; exporting and international trade; recruiting and employing staff as well as premises and business rates.

The first monthly one-to one clinics will take place on Thursday 24 May, with two other events planned for Tuesday 26 June and Thursday 26 July, where the council will be offering economic development and business growth support, including inward investment, help to identify new premises, access to a free recruitment service and financial support including loans and business rates relief.

The clinics are further supported by a range of local business organisations including StartUP Croydon who are offering business training, mentoring and social enterprise support including grants; South London Export who provide importing and exporting support; and Coast to Capital (C2C) Growth Hub – offering business support, including marketing, sales, access to finance, business planning, management and leadership.

The events are being held as part of the inaugural Croydon Year for Business which aims to showcase the borough as a great place to grow a business, as well as inspiring further innovation among Croydon’s business community.

Councillor Tony Newman, leader of the council

“Small businesses are integral to the success of Croydon’s economy and so it’s important to ensure both entrepreneurs and established business owners get the support they need for their businesses to develop and thrive.

“The free one-to-one support clinics offer a great opportunity for local businesses to learn more about a range of topics and I hope Croydon’s business community find them useful.”
