Clamping down on antisocial behaviour

Public concerns about drug dealing and late-night drinking have led to a temporary CCTV camera being installed at the Brook Road/Brigstock Road junction.

Councillor Hamida Ali, cabinet member for safer Croydon and communities

“The council is responding to concerns raised by local residents by deploying a temporary camera in this location. It will help us monitor activities that have caused residents such concern.

“I would like to thank those local residents for working with the council to help make the case for installing a camera to help tackle the antisocial behaviour taking place in this area.”

The new camera is one of 10 that have been deployed (initially for three months) to boost the council and partners’ ability to cover crime hotspot areas not covered by the existing fixed CCTV network.

Temporary cameras are also in place in Croydon town centre, the Shrublands Estate and Green Lane.

They are being used to help prevent antisocial and intimidating behaviour, drug abuse, street drinking or theft.
