Collection arrangements announced for old recycling boxes

Details of the plans to collect old recycling boxes from residents who have been given wheelie bins have been revealed as the new collection begins.

The new service, which sees 75% of properties in the borough get a new collection day, is designed to boost recycling rates.

Once the new collection has started old recycling boxes which have been replaced by larger bins will be taken away.

Residents who want the old recycling box collected should empty them and leave them at the front of their property on Monday 24 September. The lids should be placed inside the empty boxes.

The boxes will then be collected over the next two weeks.

75% of homes across the borough now have a new collection day. You can check your collection day online.

If your new bins have not yet arrived you can contact our dedicated email address wasteservices@croydon.gov.uk or call 020 8604 7282 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

“If you’ve received new recycling bins you are more than welcome to keep your boxes for another purpose but we can also take them away if they are no longer needed.

“As the new collections are introduced most properties will have a new collection day so please check online to see if yours has changed.

“All residents should receive their new bins before the collection begins but if this does not happen please continue to use your old bins as you had previously.”
