Croydon Council’s decision to appoint BH Live as the preferred operator for Fairfield Halls has been confirmed by the council’s scrutiny committee.
At its meeting this week (Wednesday 26 April), the committee heard that the council had acted in accordance with procurement requirements around confidentiality throughout the decision-making process. Also, that the timing of the leader of the council’s decision on preferred bidder means the new operator should be in place in time to work closely with the main contractor undertaking the refurbishment (due for appointment in May 2017) from the outset. This will allow the new operator to form a close working relationship with the contractor from the start and to influence the rest of the design and make any improvements or potential savings.
“I am pleased that the scrutiny committee has upheld the leader of the council’s decision to appoint BH Live and we can now move on to the next stage of this exciting journey for Fairfield Halls.
“Now that call-in has concluded, we look forward to making the final contract award in the coming days so that BH Live can begin their programme of public engagement with local people, stakeholders, partners, promoters and hirers.
“While the venue is still being refurbished, the next 18 months will provide a great opportunity for them to become a part of Croydon’s community ahead of the 2018 opening and for local people to get involved and help shape the future of this much-loved venue.”
