As part of its efforts to overcome the national shortage in personal protective equipment (PPE), Croydon Council is reiterating its appeal to Croydon businesses that may be able to help boost local supplies for frontline workers.
More than 20 businesses from across the borough responded to the initial appeal and are now in talks with the council about the vital equipment they may be able to donate or sell, to help protect health and social care workers providing vital care and support to vulnerable residents.
The council has worked hard to secure PPE for its staff and currently has a sufficient supply for those that need it. But with a national shortage of PPE, the council is continuing its appeal to local businesses that may be able to help increase its supply for the weeks and months ahead of the following sealed equipment: water resistant face masks, disposable plastic or latex gloves, plastic aprons, eye protection, overshoes and sanitising gel.
“We’ve had a good initial response to our appeal to donate or sell us protective equipment and I’d like to say thank you to those businesses that have been in touch, but given the national shortage we do still need more.
“We are continuing to work hard to source additional supplies from outside the borough, but do again ask any Croydon businesses that can help us increase the amount of PPE we have available for staff, to get in touch.”
