Croydon appoints new director of strategy and partnerships

Croydon has announced the appointment of Julian Ellerby as its new director of strategy and partnerships.

Julian will be joining Croydon from Lambeth Council where he is currently director of policy and communications – responsible amongst other things for business planning and leading on an equalities commission to reduce inequality in the borough.

Julian brings with him a wealth of experience such as overseeing the creation and implementation of the Borough Plan, which helped shape the nature and development of Lambeth.

This new role for Croydon will oversee policy and strategy for the council, as well as having responsibility for organisational development, external relationships with key partners and the third sector, the Leader’s office and communications.

Jo Negrini, chief executive Croydon Council

“We’re really pleased to be welcoming Julian to Croydon.  At this exciting time, Julian will be leading our policy, strategic, communications and organisational development teams.

“This is a new post for the council, working directly to me, which will really drive the council’s approach to working with residents and our partners. Julian has a fantastic track record and will help lead our engagement with communities, local businesses and within our own organisation, to make sure we can deliver the very best for Croydon.”

Julian said: “I am very excited to have the opportunity to be part of Croydon’s story. It is a place with strong ambitions and the evidence of its progress and delivery is increasingly clear. A key part of this role will be about building on relationships with residents and partners so that everyone can have a stake in all the exciting things that are happening in the borough and benefit from its success.”
