Croydon Sports Arena gets £25,000 makeover

Croydon Sports Arena is getting a £25,000 makeover and will be temporarily closed from 11 to 30 October whilst works are carried out.

The council is investing in new pole vault and long jump runways, a full re-make of the track lanes, a deep clean of the facilities and a series of other essential repairs.

The timing of the work has been agreed to minimise disruption to users.

The Sports Arena in South Norwood has an eight-lane all weather 400m running track and a floodlit senior football pitch. It has a free car park and offers a range of day rate and season tickets for occasional or regular users.

Between August and May the Arena is home to Croydon FC who play their league cup and youth games on the pitch. It is also home to the Croydon Harriers Athletics Club, who train all year round, with home fixtures from May to August.

Croydon Arena is also used by Wheels for Wellbeing and Cycling on Referral. These projects encourage and enable cycling using tricycles and other purpose built bicycles for people with disabilities and special needs.

An archery club runs every Sunday from 1-3pm.
