Early Christmas present makes parking easier in Croydon

An early Christmas present from the council will make life easier for anyone looking to do last-minute Christmas shopping or call in on friends and family over the festive period.

Parking restrictions in council-controlled car parks and parking bays will be relaxed on six days over the festive period, making it easier to park across the borough.

The restrictions will be lifted on Tuesday 24 December, Wednesday 25 December, Thursday 26 December, Friday 27 December, Tuesday 31 December and Wednesday 1 January.

Normal parking enforcement will apply on all other days and other restrictions including yellow lines, footways and camera-controlled restrictions as well as bus lanes, pedestrian zones and yellow box junctions will apply as normal.

“Relaxed parking restrictions around the holiday season will hopefully make it easier for people to visit friends and family across Croydon.

“However, we’d ask drivers to still be considerate and park sensibly as they would throughout the rest of the year, during these dates.”

Councillor Stuart King, cabinet lead for environment, transport and regeneration
