Free half-term activities – theatre, debate, and music

With half-term fast approaching now’s the time to book a place on one or more of the exciting free activities laid on by the council for Croydon’s young people.

play-in-a-week-feb-2017-posterBudding actors, playwrights or directors can try their hand at creating a brand new play in a week at Theatre Utopia, in Matthew’s Yard.

Running from 11-4pm from 14-18 Feb, participants will be working with professional theatre makers to devise a play from scratch in four days, with a chance to perform the finished piece on the Friday. No experience is necessary and the sessions are open to 12-18-olds.

The Croydon Youth Council are holding a special day at Croydon Clocktower on 13 Feb to raise awareness of crime and safety.

The session starts at 11am and finishes at 3pm, and anyone aged 12-18 is welcome to drop in at any time to share ideas, discuss concerns and pick up some great free gifts.

Young musicians of any age who want to experience the excitement of the Carnival can join Kinetica Bloco on Saturday 18 Feb from 10-5pm in the Croydon Clocktower. Brass and woodwind players, drummers or steel pan players are all welcome to be part of the musical party – rounded off with a performance in North End.
