Great result for Croydon pupils at Key Stage 2

Croydon’s pupils are doing well at Key Stage 2 and performing well above the national average, provisional SATs results released this week reveal.

The percentage of the borough’s pupils who achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and maths in their Key Stage 2 SATs has risen from 64% last year to 66.2% this year. Department for Education (DfE) figures put the national average at 63.8%.

The percentage of pupils achieving above the expected standard is also higher in Croydon than nationally at 10.6% compared with 9.5%. This also represents an improvement from last year, when nine per cent achieved the higher level.

“As we approach the end of summer term I want to say well done to all Croydon’s pupils and teachers for their hard work – not just in their SATs but throughout the year. SATs results are not everything but they are one of many indications that can help us to build up a picture of how well children are learning in our schools.  I’m really pleased to see further evidence that standards in Croydon’s schools continue to rise – great news for all our families”
