Have you experienced a council team going above and beyond, delivering an exceptional service that’s made a real difference to your community; or has a member of staff made a positive impact on your life? If so, nominate them for a Residents’ Choice award!
The council is seeking nominations as part of its annual staff awards programme which recognises the hard work and dedication of officers who go above and beyond for Croydon.
Nominations for the Residents’ Choice are open until Friday 20 September. Every nomination counts, with all nominees told about their nomination and receiving recognition within their council department.
Residents will then have the chance to vote for their preferred winner from a list of finalists in October, before the winner is announced at a glittering staff awards ceremony – which is entirely funded through sponsorship and at no cost to the taxpayer – on Thursday 28 November.
Last year’s winner was Maria Nawrocka, who co-ordinates the council’s Play Streets scheme which allows residents to temporarily close their streets so children can play. She was nominated by several residents who praised how her work had brought local communities together, encouraged children to be active and involved parents in organising events.
Recalling her nominations, Maria said: “Meeting and working with residents is the best bit of my job and so I was surprised to be nominated for the Residents’ Choice award. Winning the award was a huge honour. This award is such an important opportunity for residents to recognise the work that council staff do.”
To nominate a council officer or team for the Residents’ Choice award, tell us what the person or team has done, how they’ve made a positive impact in your life and why you think they are a deserving nominee. The form can be accessed here: https://getinvolved.croydon.gov.uk/survey/881
