A consultation helping shape the future of Croydon’s transport system is currently underway for local people to share their thoughts on everything from how to make journeys safer to improving sustainability over the next 20 years.
A first draft of Croydon’s Local Implementation Plan has been submitted to Transport for London (TfL) and is now open for public comment.
The plan sets out how Croydon would seek to increase the use of sustainable transport by bringing a bicycle hire scheme to Croydon, new electric vehicle charging points and helping more children walk and cycle to school.
The plan sets long-term goals and objectives. It would also secure around £9m of funding for schemes over the next three years in addition to the £520,000m being invested in the Growth Zone.
The Mayor’s transport strategy for the capital includes targets to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on roads to zero by 2041, and increase the proportion of journeys by foot, cycle or public transport in Croydon to 50% by 2021.
The consultation on the draft plan is open until Monday 28 January ahead of a final draft being submitted to the Mayor and TfL in mid-February.
