Jobs fair helps young people to choose their futures

Young people are invited to a special jobs fair next week where a range of employers and education providers will be on hand to discuss opportunities to work for their organisations.

Hosted by the Young Mayor of Croydon and Deputy Young Mayor of Croydon as part of the Choose Your Future campaign, the event will also include a panel talk with guest speakers from 3.30pm.

Attendees will hear from Kieran McNeil from Scaramanga Marketing, John McLean from Croydon College, Coleen Cleary from the Croydon Chamber of Commerce and Dexter Simms from Mula Cake Ltd.

Employers at the event will include Croydon University Hospital, Network Rail, Croydon Council and Axis Europe, a property management firm.

The event is taking place at Boxpark Croydon on Wednesday 21 August and starts at 2pm, places do not need to be booked in advance. The jobs fair will finish at 4pm.

Shea Williams, the Deputy Young Mayor of Croydon, said: “I’m passionate about making sure young people are clear about their options for the future and helping them to take their next steps, which is why I made this event one of my priorities. It’s also the day before GCSE results day.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming attendees and employers to the event and know the panel discussion will inspire the young people attending.”

“Our young people have limitless potential and there are so many opportunities for them in the borough.

“This will be a real opportunity for young people to meet with some of our biggest employers who will be showcasing the roles they can offer, so I hope our young people come down to find out more.”
