Join The Big Conversation and help shape Croydon’s future

The council is calling on the people of Croydon to join The Big Conversation and get talking about how they want the borough to be by 2030.

The Big Conversation is a groundbreaking resident engagement exercise which gives local residents, businesses and visitors the chance to help shape Croydon’s future. We want to hear the views, concerns and priorities of local people and community groups to help guide council policies and investment over the next decade.

Over the next few months, we will be exploring six Big Conversation topics – culture at the heart of regeneration; safe and secure communities; caring for each other; decent homes for all; jobs and economy; and creating a sustainable Croydon.

Everything you need to join the conversation is on The Big Conversation website – www.bigconversation.croydon.gov.uk – including information about the topics, the challenges Croydon faces and what the council has done so far to tackle them. If you prefer, you can pick up and drop off a Big Conversation survey at your local Croydon library.

You can have your say in a number of ways. The simplest is to talk with friends, family and colleagues about the topics that matter to you and then tell the council. You can download a discussion guide to help you give feedback, as well as use the survey, an interactive map, a discussion forum and more. You can also share your views direct via bigconversation@croydon.gov.uk.

Residents, businesses and community groups can share opinions on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #bigconversationcroydon. The council will be sharing blogs and films featuring local people to keep the conversation going. Council staff will also be out and about engaging with people in the community to share their views.

“We’re holding The Big Conversation to listen to what the important things are for every person and organisation in Croydon. In these tough financial times, we’re also asking some tough questions of ourselves; what is the council doing right? What else can we do? How could you help?

“How do you want Croydon to improve in the next decade? Maybe your priority is tackling pollution, homelessness or unemployment. It could be wanting a safer, more caring community. Or what if Croydon’s culture matters most to you?

“Whether face-to-face, on paper, through social media or on our website, The Big Conversation is a chance for everyone who lives, works or spends time in the borough to tell us and each other what Croydon should look like in 2030, so let’s get talking!”

Councillor Tony Newman, leader of the council
