Lively celebrations to take place around International Women’s Day

A week of lively celebration involving musicians, photography exhibitions and inspirational speakers will take place around International Women’s Day in Croydon.

On 8 March, women all over the world will celebrate International Women’s Day 2017, an annual event that recognises and showcases the achievements of women and campaigns for a more inclusive, gender-equal working world.

‘Be Bold For Change’ is the theme for 2017, and the council’s Women’s network has joined forces with local groups and partners to host a range of inspiring events from 6 to 10 March.

Top of the bill is the International Women’s Day celebration event at Boxpark on Monday 6 March from 5.30pm to 7.45pm. The programme for the free event is packed with performances from up-and-coming musicians, talks by inspirational speakers, and a discussion panel with some of Croydon’s very own women leaders.

Other #Bebold events happening across Croydon include the ‘Ladies First’ exhibition from 8 to 15 March at the Community Space in Bernard Weatherill House, a free women’s health event, and an Empower Women of Croydon Networking event.
