Nadia Rose joins youth takeover of Fairfield Halls

Croydon’s very own MOBO Award-winner Nadia Rose is headlining a free arts and culture event at Fairfield Halls this weekend to celebrate the borough’s young people.

Croydon Youth Arts Collective’s (CYAC) fourth annual Youth Takeover is taking place on Saturday (2 November), with a programme of performances and workshops, created by and for young people.

The Fairfield Halls event will celebrate the diversity of Croydon while welcoming young people to the jewel of the borough’s cultural crown.

Nadia’s headline set will be followed by an after party with a line-up of local young artists including Kingdom, Flintz and KS MoreTime.

Born in 1993, she grew up near Whitehorse Road in Thornton Heath, a place where she was surrounded by music, and by family (her cousin Michael Omari, now better known as Stormzy, lived just up the road).

Tickets to Nadia’s performance can be reserved here.

Throughout the day there will be performances and workshops including ‘An introduction to stage combat’ led by Fairfield Halls residents SAVVY Theatre, music production with White Hut Studios and a vocal harmony choir with Croydon Music and Arts.

Chineke! Junior Orchestra are set to perform with local dancers and musicians, and there will also be performances from See Our 7, Endurance Steel Orchestra and Good Wolf Theatre. A full list of events can be found here.

“We’re really excited Nadia has joined the Youth Takeover, which adds to an already fantastic celebration of Croydon’s young people.

“This promises to be a really exciting day, with so many opportunities for our young people. Come and join in with the fun and celebrate with us!”
