Nominations open for 2017 Mayor’s Civic Awards

Do you know a dedicated volunteer, an entrepreneur with Croydon’s community at the heart of their business or an inspirational young person who has excelled in the face of adversity?

We are looking for community heroes from across the borough who deserved to be honoured and have their actions recognised at the 2017 Mayor of Croydon’s Civic Awards.

The annual awards ceremony is a chance to celebrate the exceptional people who make Croydon a brilliant place for people to live, grow, work and visit.

This could be someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the health and well-being of residents, a person who takes pride in keeping Croydon clean and green or a young person who has transformed their own life and is now helping others do the same.

Nominations can be made in 10 categories, which are:

• Volunteer of the Year

• Voluntary Group of the Year

• Contribution to Sport and Healthy Living

• Don’t Mess with Croydon – Take Pride

• Business in the Community

• Fairer Croydon

• Carer of the Year

• Good Neighbour

• Young Achiever of the Year

• Stronger Together

All entries must be submitted by Friday 8 September. The finalists in each of the categories will be announced later that month and invited to attend a glittering ceremony on Tuesday 17 October where the award winners will be revealed.

Councillor Toni Letts, Mayor of Croydon

“There are so many unsung heroes in Croydon, who selflessly put in a huge amount of time and effort to not only improve the lives of those around them, but also the lives of the wider community. These awards are a fantastic way of recognising and celebrating what they do and nominating someone you know could also be the perfect way to say thank you.”

To nominate an individual, group or organisation, please visit the awards page online at www.croydon.gov.uk/civicawards or complete the nomination form in Word and email it to civicawards@croydon.gov.uk
