A record number of parents chose a Croydon secondary school this year – with a seven per cent rise in applications reflecting a growing demand for the borough’s education provision.
As the offers went out last night (1 March) 86 per cent of this year’s 4,593 applicants were awarded a place at one of their top three preferred schools, with 62 per cent offered a place at their first preference.
The increase in demand for Croydon secondary schools comes as 90 per cent are now rated good or outstanding, with almost 50 per cent of secondary aged pupils in the borough attending an outstanding school.
With the largest population of young people in London Croydon processes more school applications that any other London borough. Council planning meant that every pupil that applied on time was offered a secondary school place. For the second year running, 100 per cent of Croydon’s applicants opted to apply online.
Online applicants will be able to view the outcome of their application as well as accept/decline their offer by logging on to their eAdmissions account. The deadline for accepting places is 15 March.
