The renovation and improvements to Selsdon library are well under way with the new look library expected to reopen in early August.
The library will boast new IT infrastructure, new furniture and new books for the community to enjoy.
The renovation is also helping a local cause by donating the old shelving. It has been given to Book Love – The Multicultural Book Carnival, who work to bring communities together through a love of books.
Selsdon is the first of the borough’s 13 libraries to be refurbished. While the works take place residents can still visit a staffed pop-up library in the foyer between 10am and 2pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
There is a returns bin for books and other borrowed items outside the library which can be used at all times.
To reduce inconvenience for local library users, Sanderstead Library is continuing to open on Mondays from 9am to 6pm until 29 July, in addition to its usual opening hours.
“The refurbishment of Selsdon Library is going well and I’m looking forward to seeing the community enjoying the new facility.
“I’m delighted we’ve been able to support Book Love in their mission to connect communities through literature.”
