Statement from the leader of the council one year after the Croydon tram derailment

“This week, out of adversity, we again saw the very best of Croydon as, one year on, we came together to stand in solidarity with all the victims of the Croydon tram crash.

“In New Addington, from where so many were lost, the council hosted a memorial event where we heard from some of the victims’ families, emergency services, our MP and local councillors, on a day that saw the local community coming together and pledging to continue to support each other in the challenging times that still lie ahead.

“Please take time to remember those who lost their lives – Dane Chinnery, Donald Collett, Robert Huxley, Philip Logan, Dorota Rynkiewicz, Philip Seary and Mark Smith – and all who were travelling on that tram on the morning of 9 November 2016.”
