Croydon residents still have time to have their say on how the borough’s growth up to 2039 should be managed, as the first stage of the Local Plan review consultation continues.
Open until 13 January 2020, the consultation focuses on three spatial strategies, sites and planning policies, all of which are necessary to ensure the delivery of homes, jobs and the provision of community facilities over the next 20 years is managed correctly.
Based on government methodology, up to 46,040 homes are needed within the borough between now and 2039 and the council wants as many residents as possible to have their say on how they think they should be delivered.
Residents can also answer a series of questions on each of the 16 places in the borough, to help shape their local area. The council is also looking for opinions on how best to respond to the climate emergency that was declared in July.
There are two drop-in consultation events taking place this week; at Ashburton Library from 5.30pm to 7.30pm today (Tuesday 10 December), and in Lower Addiscombe Road in Addiscombe from 11am to 2pm on Wednesday 11 December.
There is also the opportunity to give feedback on the consultation at the Croydon Arts Store in the Whitgift Centre every Wednesday to Saturday until 20 December.

Once the consultation closes, the results will be analysed and will inform the next stage of the review process, which is working up the council’s preferred option. This will then be consulted on in late 2020 before being publicly examined in spring 2021, with adoption taking place in 2022.
