‘Tree-cycling’ set to get underway

The free recycling of real Christmas trees begins in Croydon next week with kerbside collections taking place across the borough over two weeks.

Trees left on the kerbside will be collected on the same day as general waste bins, just remove all decorations and any plant pot or tree holder so it can be recycled.

Put your tree out alongside your black general waste bin. Please make sure the tree does not block access to your other bins.

Trees should be left inside the property boundary to avoid blocking the pavement.

Trees left out with household waste will be collected from Monday 14 January.

You can check your collection date online.

“As the festive period draws to an end you can start 2019 with a positive step and help the planet by recycling your tree.

“We’ve introduced a new collection regime and new bins across the borough help boost the recycling rate to more than 50% over the next two years.”
