Over 150 Croydon SMEs attend free event to help their business grow

More than 150 local businesses attended a free event offering support and advice on the funding opportunities that could help them grow their business.

Information stands from a range of service providers, public seminars, one-to-one sessions with financial advisers from exhibiting organisations including Barclays, Croydon Enterprise Loan Fund and UK Export Finance and the opportunity to network with a range of other local business operators, were among offerings at the Access to Finance event, held at Croydon Clocktower on Friday 10 February.

BBC TV pundit and finance veteran Justin Urquhart Stewart, director and co-founder of Seven Investment Management, which manages around £5.2bn on behalf of professional financial wealth managers delivered the keynote speech, sharing his extensive experience with delegates.

The event was aimed at all local businesses from start-ups, to more established companies looking at finance options to grow. It was part of a series of events and networking initiatives by Croydon Council to help boost new and existing businesses in the borough and was organised by the council and local enterprise partnership Coast to Capital.

Councillor Mark Watson, cabinet member for economy and jobs

“Identifying funding opportunities to grow a business is no easy task and I am pleased we were able to hold this event with Coast to Capital to help local businesses on this vital topic.

“Croydon businesses are integral to boosting the borough’s economy and the Access to Finance event is just one way the council is supporting local businesses, no matter their stage of development, to grow.”
