Croydon Council is seeking feedback from its residents, communities and businesses on the proposed Air Quality Delivery Plan (AQDP) 2024-2029, to reduce air pollution to improve the health and quality of life for residents and visitors to the borough.

Air quality is a serious health issue, as a contributing factor in heart disease and cancer. It particularly affects the most vulnerable, such as children and older people and those with heart and lung conditions.

To improve air quality in the borough, the Council will commit to monitoring air quality for pollutants, reducing emissions from fuel combustion, and increasing public awareness of how to lower exposure to air pollution.

The AQDP for 2024-2029 has been produced as part of Croydon’s duty to London Local Air Quality Management.

Croydon residents can have their say on the priorities the Council proposes to focus on to improve air quality in the borough, in a survey which is open until Monday 10 February 2025.

Priorities include how the Council will work to reduce emissions, increase the network of air quality monitoring, and continue to engage schools on ways to improve air quality around them.

“We want to reduce the exposure of people in Croydon to poor air quality and make our borough a clean, safe and healthy place.

“We look forward to hearing from those who live, work and visit the borough on our priorities for improving air quality in Croydon.”

Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon
