The council has welcomed the decision by local businesses to back New Addington Business Improvement District (BID) for another five years.
The motion of support for New Addington BID followed a ballot by the council’s electoral services and this morning it was announced 81.48 percent of businesses that voted, did so in favour of the proposed second term.
New Addington BID, also known as the Central Parade Business Partnership, is the smallest BID in the UK and was established in 2012. It is formed by all the shops based in Central Parade, businesses in Salcot Crescent, the market and council owned buildings.
The businesses ‘yes’ vote secures approximately £30k of funding through a levy raised by the BID, which is invested to drive economic growth in the area.
Over the last five years, the Partnership has been working to ensure visitors, customers and employees of local businesses feel safe and that business premises are more secure. Other priorities have included improving the perception and image of New Addington as an area in which to invest, work and live; making the working environment cleaner and more attractive to visitors; improving accessibility to the area by promoting its good transport links and co-ordinating a number of high profile events and festivals.
Priorities already identified for the next five-year term include bringing local businesses together, investing in safety, delivering brighter streets and creating a great impression of the area.
