Yesterday’s results day for A-level students across Croydon has proved to be a success. Early indications show Croydon’s overall pass rates to remain broadly in line with 2024, but with a significant rise in overall grades A–E*, now at 97.6% compared with 95.3% in 2024.

Riddlesdown Collegiate had a standout achievement where A*-A grades reached a 29% high, exceeding this year’s national result of 28.3%. Students from the collegiate enjoyed coming together yesterday to get their results.

Eralb received an impressive four A* in advanced physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology, and is heading off to study Material Science at Oxford University. He said: “I feel really good about my results. I don’t really have any words to describe it. I guess it’s just a huge weight off my shoulders.”

Rebecca’s envelope revealed three A* in advanced psychology, advanced chemistry and biology and she is feeling excited about heading to Birmingham to study Medicine: “I’m feeling really happy about my results…just excited. All the effort and hard work I put in paid off so I’m very happy.”

Riddlesdown Collegiate Principal, Daniel Osborne said: “We are incredibly proud of our students. This year’s results are the best in our history and a true testament to the sustained effort, resilience, and ambition of our young people, supported every step of the way by our exceptional staff. These outcomes open doors to exciting futures, and we couldn’t be more delighted for them.”

“This is a big day for students, parents and teachers. Congratulations to all our young people who opened envelopes yesterday, and remember, no matter the result, to speak to your school, college, potential university, or our team at the Council about your options and next steps.

“We have great schools here in Croydon, and I’d like to pass my thanks and congratulations to the staff who provide so much support to our young people, opening up so many opportunities for them all.”

Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon

If you have just received your results, here is what to do next:

The first thing you should do is find out if your offer is now confirmed. If you needed specific grades for your chosen course and you didn’t get these, first and foremost – don’t panic. Speak to your intended place of learning, training or employment as soon as possible to find out whether they will still accept you.  Remember, if you’re not able to get on to the original course that you applied to, then ask about alternatives.

If your results are better than expected or you’ve since been rethinking your career goals and ambitions, speak to your intended place of learning or training as soon as possible.

You can discuss your situation and options with the Post 16 Participation Team at Croydon Council,  by calling: 020 8726 7485, emailing: Post16@croydon.gov.uk or visit our website for more information.
