Welcome to the Cleaner Croydon campaign page!
Cleaner Croydon is about everyone doing their bit to keep our borough looking its best and restoring pride in our neighbourhoods. Issues such as litter, graffiti and fly-tipping affect everyone. They make areas look untidy and can make people feel less safe. There are little things we can all do to help keep our streets, parks and public spaces clean. And these little things all make a big difference.
Let’s work together for a Cleaner Croydon.
The campaign includes:
- Our council clean-up squad launching blitz cleans in 19 high streets
- Supporting businesses and partners to keep their properties graffiti and fly-tip-free
- Setting up task and finish groups to tackle issues such as abandoned vehicles
- Helping everyone to dispose of their waste responsibly – when they are at home and when they are out
- Celebrating Cleaner Croydon heroes such as our Street Champions and Friends of Parks
- Encouraging everyone to get involved!
What do our blitz clean-ups involve?
Our blitz clean-ups are helping to restore pride in our town and district centres.
We’ve already carried out successful blitz cleans in Norbury, Thornton Heath and New Addington.
The Cleaner Croydon campaign is rolling out the programme to 19 high streets and district centres across the borough, prioritising hotspots.
Each blitz clean-up is tailored to the local area. We start each blitz with a walkabout with residents and businesses, to understand the issues they are experiencing.
Our blitz squad carries out a range of targeted activity over several weeks, from tackling fly-tipping to removing graffiti, deep cleansing, streets, providing trading standards advice for businesses and enforcing illegal parking.
We support small businesses with support to remove and prevent graffiti and fly-tipping on their property. Where needed, we provide a first clean free of charge, and provide advice and tips to keep shops looking great.
After the clean-up, we work with residents and businesses to keep the area looking its best.
How you can get involved in Cleaner Croydon
Making sure we all dispose of our waste responsibly is the easiest way.
When you’re out – please put your litter in public bins. If the bin is full, take your litter home, or find another bin for it.
When you’re at home – put your bins out for collection in the right place, at the right time.
Help us to reduce the amount of waste we create by reusing and recycling as much as possible.
Issues like fly-tipping and dog fouling can really make an area feel unclean and unsafe.
If you see environmental issues when out and about, report them quickly and easily to us through Love Clean Streets or on our website.
Have fun and meet other locals in your area by getting involved in a community clean-up.

Or perhaps get involved with a Friends of Parks group? Croydon is lucky to have 127 beautiful parks and green spaces. Our Friends groups play a hugely important role in caring for them. Find out more about volunteering opportunities in our parks.
We’ll be showcasing our Street Champions and Friends of Parks, and the wonderful work they do, as part of this campaign.
