Coulsdon’s Lion Green Road car park reopens

Coulsdon’s Lion Green Road pay-and-display car park will be temporarily reopened by the council on Monday 22 Feb.

There will be 120 spaces including provision for disabled drivers and motorcycles, and the car park will be free to use until 7 March, when normal charges are expected to be brought back into force.

The council took the decision to reinstate the facility whilst new plans are being drawn up for the redevelopment of the site.

Cllr-Newman

“Although in the long term we still expect to build on some of this land, probably in partnership with Waitrose, we felt it prudent and sensible to allow it to continue to be used for parking in the meantime. Our team has done the necessary work in record time, and I’m delighted we are able to offer free parking for several weeks whilst we complete the legal formalities necessary to reintroduce charging.”
