11.45 – Council staff are on site at hotels to support Sycamore House residents. If you are a Sycamore House resident staying with friends and family, we’ll be in touch to check you’re ok but if you need help or to speak to us in the meantime, call 020 8726 6000 ext no 20113. You can also call this number to check someone you know at Sycamore House is ok. The line is open until 10pm tonight, after that time for urgent enquiries please call 0208 726 6101.
9.30am – all Sycamore House residents are staying with friends and family or have been moved to hotels, and the rest centre has closed.
Council teams are continuing to support them and to check everyone is safe and well.
Our officers are on site at Sycamore House and working with the police and the fire brigade to assess when the building will be safe for people to return.
7pm: Croydon Council has opened an overnight rest centre at Thornton Heath Leisure Centre for anyone who has been affected by the fire at Sycamore House, London Road and needs somewhere to stay.
Residents who are unable to stay with friends or family tonight are encouraged to come to Thornton Heath Leisure Centre, 100 High Street, Thornton Heath, from 7pm.
Council staff will there to help and will be present on site overnight.
