Tara Boswell, Croydon Council’s dog warden, has been recognised in the RSPCA’s prestigious PawPrints Awards for the eighth year running.
Tara’s work helping stray dogs in Croydon earned her a platinum PawPrints Award, the scheme’s highest accolade, for the third consecutive year.
The Council’s dog warden helps to rehome and find rescue placements for unclaimed stray dogs. The service also reunites dogs who have become separated from their owners and offers support to encourage responsible dog ownership through initiatives such as free microchipping.
Tara has worked for Croydon Council for more than 15 years and helps hundreds of stray dogs every year through close partnerships with animal charities, veterinary services, rescue centres and community organisations.
The latest accolade further cements Tara’s reputation as one of the country’s leading dog wardens, following a series of consecutive awards from the RSPCA for her work.
Tara said: “I’m incredibly proud to have achieved the platinum PawPrints award again. There are some significant challenges involved in delivering the service, particularly with the continuing pressures on kennels and rescue organisations. Receiving this recognition for the work I do, and ultimately for the standards we maintain for stray dogs in Croydon, genuinely means a great deal to me.”
“Congratulations to Tara on this thoroughly deserved recognition. Eight consecutive years of RSPCA awards, including three at platinum level, reflect the care, dedication and consistently high standards she brings to her work.
“From reuniting much-loved dogs with their owners to finding safe homes for strays, Tara makes a real difference to animals and residents across Croydon. She is a great example of the dedicated Council officers who work hard every day to deliver for local people. Their commitment, often behind the scenes, gives us so much to be proud of in our borough.”
