Croydon has increased its Green Flags to six, building on last year’s success when the borough achieved four Green Flags.
The two new flags at Haling Grove and Coombe Wood, reflect Executive Mayor Jason Perry’s commitment to investing and improving parks and open spaces across the borough.
The Green Flags would not be possible without the work of loyal volunteers, Friends of Parks groups, Council officers and partners who all help to keep the parks looking great.
Haling Grove and Coombe Wood, join Wettern Tree Garden and Coulsdon Memorial Park, who were newly awarded flags last year, and Happy Valley and Wandle Park, bringing the total number of Green Flags in the borough to six.
Investment in Croydon’s parks and open spaces has seen better schedules for grass cutting, new playgrounds and outdoor gyms, and new paths, making them more accessible for all residents.
The Green Flag Award, which comes from charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard across the UK.

“We are improving the borough’s parks, making them better places to go, and these two new Green Flags reflect this.
“To be great places they need a lot of love and care, so I am so thankful for our many Friends Groups and volunteers who support our officers and partners and work together to keep them looking great. We have so many fantastic parks and open spaces in Croydon and I look forward to building our number of Green Flags each year.
“If you have not been to any of our green-flagged parks, I hope you can find the time to visit them this summer.”
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon
