Residents with questions about fostering in Croydon are invited to join an upcoming information event as part of the borough’s Foster Care Fortnight celebrations.
Croydon’s fostering team will be holding an information session on 1 June at Fairfield Halls from 6-7pm. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the role of a foster carer and have your questions answered by experienced social workers and foster carers.
This ties in with the theme for 2023 – #FosteringCommunities – which acknowledges and thanks the communities of people that support foster care, making a real difference to the lives of young people.
With 526 children and young people in care, and 175 fostering households in the borough, Croydon needs more foster carers, especially for sibling groups, teenagers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
Anyone interested in fostering is encouraged to come along to the event or get in touch with the team at croydon.gov.uk/fostering or call 0300 222 2112.
Nahum, a young person in foster care, said: “You don’t need a whole list of qualifications to be a foster carer, you just have to be a compassionate person.
“Young people might be a lot to deal with but they’re also dealing with a lot.”
