Croydon celebrates LGBT+ History Month

Croydon launches its LGBT+ History Month celebrations this Thursday (6 February) with an evening of performances and a panel discussion at the Fairfield Halls.

The line-up for the night includes international dance music legend and broadcaster DJ Ritu, Rainbows Across Borders, singer Katie Rose and Sarah Fisher & The Welcome Choir.

Organised by Croydon Council with Croydon Pride, the event will open at 6pm with a welcome reception in Fairfield Halls’ Arnhem Foyer, with Katie Rose performing at 6.45pm.

Also at 6.45pm in the Arthur Davison Suite a panel will explore this year’s LGBT+ History Month theme of poetry, prose and plays, discussing LGBT+ History in performance. Paula Goodwin, chair of Croydon Pride, will chair the debate, with panel members including DJ Ritu, dance artist and choreographer Vinicus Salles, visual storyteller Ella Golt and deputy head teacher Dr Glyn Hawke.

The Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Humayun Kabir; Councillor Hamida Ali, cabinet member for safer Croydon and communities and Croydon Council Chief Executive Jo Negrini will be speaking in the Arnhem Foyer at 7.45pm. The speeches will be followed by performances from Rainbows Across Borders, Katie Rose and Sarah Fisher & The Welcome Choir.
