Croydon Council has welcomed the outcome of the ballot to renew the Croydon Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID), with businesses voting in favour of a fifth five-year term.

The ballot, which was administered by the Council’s Electoral Services team over a 31-day period, saw businesses support the continuation of Croydon BID from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2032.

With a voting majority of 92.8% by number and 97.7% by rateable value, businesses have given Croydon BID a renewed mandate to continue delivering services, projects and initiatives that support the town centre. Voter turnout was 63.9%.

Croydon BID has been a key partner in promoting the town centre and delivering programmes that benefit businesses, employees, residents and visitors. The renewed term will enable the organisation to build on this work and continue responding to the priorities of its members over the next five years.

Croydon Council will continue to work alongside Croydon BID, businesses and partners to support the ongoing regeneration and success of Croydon town centre.

Matthew Sims, Chief Executive of Croydon BID, said: “The result is a true demonstration of a business community united together in working towards delivering progress and momentum for our town centre. There is a clear appreciation that there are significant challenges facing high streets and town centres like ours, but that these issues are to be met together, in partnership and in collaboration. Croydon BID is, as ever, committed, to supporting our business community, delivering across the next five years and is honoured, grateful and excited by the opportunity.

Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon: “We welcome the strong support shown by businesses for the continuation of Croydon BID. This result demonstrates a shared commitment to the future of our town centre and recognition of the value that can be achieved when businesses work together on common priorities.”

“Croydon town centre is continuing to evolve, and partnerships such as this one play an important role in supporting businesses, driving investment and helping create a place where people want to live, work, visit and do business. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Croydon BID over the next five years.”
