Croydon’s raising the flag for our Armed Forces

Residents are invited to join the Mayor of Croydon in showing their support for the Armed Forces at a flag raising ceremony ahead of Armed Forces Day.

The celebrations will begin on Monday 24 June at 11.30am, when the Armed Forces Day flag will be raised outside the town hall.

Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday 29 June and celebrates the forces community, from currently serving troops to veterans, cadets and service families.

Croydon has long supported the Armed Forces and was the first local authority in London to sign a community covenant which encourages those living and working the borough to support the armed forces community and aims to promote understanding and awareness among the public of any issues affecting the armed forces.

“I am honoured to be joining past and present members of the Armed Forces at the flag raising ceremony on Monday and urge the public to join us in giving thanks and showing their support for those who do so much for us both here and around the world.”

Councillor Humayun Kabir, Mayor of Croydon
