Days left to have your say on council’s savings proposals

There is less than a week left to give your views on the council’s savings proposals by answering an online survey.

Before the council sets its budget in February, it is asking for feedback on its proposed changes over the next three years as well as other ideas you might have.

The savings proposals are part of the council’s renewal plan, which set out how the council intends to get its finances back on track and live within its means, while focusing on quality essential services such as social care.

People can give their views via a short online survey which is open until Sunday 24 January. You can read an overview of the proposals and give your views at www.croydon.gov.uk/savingsproposals. Anyone who needs help accessing the internet, or filling in the survey, can call 020 8604 7114, between 10am – 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The renewal plan was agreed at November’s cabinet meeting, whose reports are published here. This includes the savings proposals for 2021/24, which are set out in full here.

“As a council we are absolutely focussed on delivering the best possible services for our residents and that is why I am urging as many people as possible to fill out the survey, as these proposals will affect all of us. We may need to make some tough financial decisions and it’s important that we hear from the people we work for.

“We must deliver our essential services well, and to do that we have to make savings and get our finances back on track. We are committed to supporting and protecting vulnerable children and adults, keeping our streets clean and safe, tackling inequality and responding to the pandemic.

“To do this we have to change the way we work; some services will need to stop and others will have to change. We want to understand how you think these changes will affect you and your family and how you think we could work differently. It’s important that we hear about what matters to our residents, as the feedback we get now will help us provide services that are better value for money and improve the way we do things in future.”
