Croydon Council’s dog warden, Tara Boswell, has received the prestigious Platinum RSPCA PawPrints Award for the second year running in recognition of her commitment and impactful work in promoting and enhancing animal welfare in the borough.

The award has been given for Tara’s work on rehoming and finding rescue spaces for unclaimed stray dogs and giving help, such as the free microchipping service, and advice to owners to promote responsible dog ownership.

Her work with partners such as the RSPCA and the police helping to enforce animal related legislation was also key factor in winning the award.

Tara has a track record of excellence as this is not the first time she has won the platinum award. She won it last year after winning the gold award five times, which automatically upgraded her to the platinum award.

Tara said: “I take pride in the dog warden service and working for Croydon Council.

“Making a difference to the lives of animals in our care is very important to me and hugely rewarding.

“The RSPCA Stray Dogs PawPrints Awards are the only awards that celebrate the work of dog wardens, and I am extremely honoured to have been awarded platinum.”

“I am really proud of Tara’s achievements, who showcases the best of Croydon.

“Her vital work helps improve the lives of our four-legged friends by giving them new homes and also helps and encourages residents to become better owners.

“To win the top award six times in a row shows she is at the top of her game and is a great example for how dog wardens can support the communities they work in.”
