For those planning to do some gardening, the council’s garden waste service is open for subscription. All clippings, branches, leaves and prunings we collect are recycled into compost for UK farmers, making this a great way to increase your recycling impact.
Are you looking to do some spring cleaning over the break? A great green alternative to waste removal is offering as much as you can to the upcycling and reuse community. Fisher’s Farm Household Rubbish and Recycling Centre is also home to the Community Reuse Shop, where electronics, books, homewares, bicycles and more are fixed by our team and sold back into the community.

Can’t visit the Reuse Shop? Online forums such as Freegle are very popular in Croydon, with the borough having the largest active Freegle community in the country. In the past year, Croydon’s 22,000 members saved over 230 tonnes of waste, and 117 tonnes of CO2.
For waste that does need disposal, remember that you can book a bulky waste collection via the council website. This is a good way to ensure your waste is disposed of safely, going right where it’s meant to.
If you chose to use a private waste removal service, check to be sure they are registered and licensed with the Environment Agency. Unlicensed waste removal services have been operating in the borough, collecting waste with the guise of proper disposal, and instead fly tipping in our streets and parks.
