Five Bikehangars have been installed across Croydon in a bid to boost sustainable forms of transport.
These shared bicycle parking hubs are designed to provide secure cycle storage for communities, making it easier for residents to access their bikes and ride more often.
Bikehangars have been installed at Queen Mary Road, Mersham Road, Menlo Gardens, Birdhurst Road and Belfast Road.
The cycle hangars were installed after residents approached the council asking for secure spaces to keep their bicycles close to their home. Another is due to be installed on Kemerton Road in the near future.
The council have worked hard with cycle storage providers to source the best product and gives users the chance to insure their bikes at a very competitive rate.
Each of the cycle hangars will accommodate up to six bicycles. Residents can pay a small annual fee to use the cycle hangar for their bicycle.

“We want everyone to have the option to cycle and the chance to make healthy life choices.
“Some residents want to use a bicycle but struggle because they don’t have anywhere to keep one at home, so we are working with Cyclehoop to offer secure storage spaces for our communities.
“A number of people have already expressed interest in booking a space in the hangars and we are investigating other areas where they may be installed.”
