Free programme offers parents tips to boost their child’s health

Croydon is offering the free Healthy Families, Brighter Future programme to residents to help give children in the borough the best possible start in life.

Families with children aged seven and under can sign up to the eight-week programme run by the charity HENRY to learn more about looking after their family’s physical, emotional and mental health and much more.

Those taking part will receive a HENRY toolkit with helpful resources to support them to make manageable and long-lasting changes to their lives.

The programme is available on various dates at local venues as well as online.

Parents can learn more about the programme and sign up at www.henry.org.uk/croydon. People can also get more details by emailing croydon@henry.org.uk or calling 020 8156 6400.

Professionals working with children and families can also refer parents onto the programme.

“We want to support families in Croydon at every stage to get the best out of life. We are pleased to offer this free HENRY programme to support residents with babies or young children to make healthier choices. Everyone wants the best for their child, but parents can face conflicting advice making it hard to know what to do, especially in the early years. Every parent who joins this programme will learn something new and useful.”

Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon

Rebecca McDonald, Croydon service manager at HENRY, said: “We are passionate about helping families to make positive lifestyle changes, creating healthier and happier home environments, and building healthier communities. Over the past 12 years we have supported thousands of families across the country, and we are now excited to be working in collaboration with Croydon Council and other local partners. Our Healthy Families: Brighter Future programme is evidence-based and focuses on topics to get children off to the best start. Our team is looking forward to working with families to help them to discover their strengths and support them in their journey to transform family life for the better.”
