Free swimming returns to Croydon this summer – with added benefits for those signing up

Croydon residents aged 16 and under can remain active over the summer holidays as free swimming sessions return for the seventh consecutive year.

From 24 July to 2 September, there will be free swimming sessions at each of Croydon’s five leisure centres – New Addington, Purley, South Norwood, Thornton Heath and Waddon – during general Swim for All Sessions.

For the first time, the membership card also features additional benefits, including up to 30% off non-member prices on activities including badminton court hire and fun Splash Time sessions in the pool, which include floats and inflatables.

Residents will be able to complete an application form online via https://www.better.org.uk/london/croydon/free-swim-croydon, or by using the self-service machines at one of the leisure centres. All membership cards, which cost £2, need to be collected from the centres. ID may be required.

Eight-year-olds and younger will need to be accompanied by an adult to sessions, who must also register them. The membership card can be used throughout the summer, and can replaced if lost or stolen.

“I am delighted that we can once again offer free swimming for our young people.

“Swimming is a really great way to stay active – and the added member benefits are a brilliant bonus for our young people. I hope many of our young people take up this fantastic offer, jump in, and have fun.”

Councillor Oliver Lewis, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport
