Children and young people will have the chance to enjoy a range of fun activities this week while on their school break.
Our London Borough of Culture events continue to offer engaging events that can be enjoyed over half-term. From Monday 12 February to Saturday 17 February, the ‘Half-Term Music Bus’ will be visiting various locations across the borough. The bus will be hosting free workshops on music production, as well as leading song and lyric writing sessions. The bus will be open from 10.30am – 1pm and 2pm – 4.30pm.

During the break, residents can come along to the new ‘Rewind: This is Croydon’s Music’ exhibition in the Museum of Croydon. This exhibition builds on our Croydon Music Heritage Trail and looks to unveil the rich history of music within the borough, and celebrates the musical heritage of Croydon through images, stories and objects within the local music community.
The council’s youth engagement team will be running their February half-term activity sessions. This is aimed at children aged 8 – 18. This year, our Youth Bus will be coming to Shrublands on Tuesday 13 February at Laurel Crescent, followed on Wednesday 14 February at Regina Road, South Norwood.
Each day will run from 2.30pm until 5pm and will feature a range of activities There will be multiple sports on offer, such as football, cricket, basketball and more. Young people will also have the opportunity to take part in arts and craft activities and will be able to play PlayStation and board games.
For half-term, our leisure operators Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) will be offering £1 Swim for all Sessions for under 16s before 10am during the school holidays.

Workshop Pop! – This event is part of our programme of work celebrating the music heritage of the borough – Rewind: This is Croydon’s Music. This is a free drop-in event designed for ages 5 – 11 but older siblings and families can join in too. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Storytime with Mama G – On Tuesday 13 February in Croydon Central Library. 2022 Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Mama G will host an uplifting storytime and will share some of her own original stories and songs, as well as some of the funniest picture books on the market. 9 Days of Piper Snow. Local author event with Daniella Blechner – On Saturday 17 February in Croydon Central Library. This is an opportunity to meet author Daniella Blechner, author of ‘9 Days of Piper Snow’, a book that explores friendship, grief and the beauty of happy memories.
