More than £500,000 has been given to hundreds of community schemes across Croydon over the past year.
Each of Croydon’s 70 councillors is allocated £8,000 they can spend on schemes in their own wards throughout a year.
In total £520,774 was given to hundreds of schemes across the borough during the last financial year.
“Croydon’s fantastic varied communities are one of the borough’s greatest strengths as they organise hundreds of incredible schemes throughout the year.
“It’s always inspiring to see the range of activities being offered across the borough that my fellow councillors and I can support.
“A new online tool makes it easier than ever before to bid for funding and see what projects your ward councillors have supported.”

The scheme that received the most support was The Chartwell Cancer Trust which was given £34,000 by politicians from both parties across the borough.
The trust has teamed up with Croydon Health Services NHS Trust to raise £750,000 to build a modern Oncology Unit as part of the £3m investment to integrate acute paediatric services in Croydon University Hospital.

“The new Paediatrics Village at Croydon University Hospital will have a transformational impact on children and families from every ward in the borough.
“Croydon’s young people deserve the very best healthcare facilities. It’s fantastic to know that councillors share our commitment to making that happen.”
The online list shows which projects councillors have supported and how much funding they have left to award. Unspent funds may be rolled forward into the next year.
The minimum grant is £250 and to be eligible a scheme must improve the wellbeing of the community, environment or economy in the relevant ward.
Each councillor has £8,000 to allocate before 31 March 2020. Community groups should to reach out to their local councillor if they have a good idea for a scheme.
