Job fair to mark National Employability Day

Croydon residents are being given the chance to speak to employers about vacancies as well as hear top tips to ensure they are ready to apply for and succeed in getting a job at an event to mark National Employability Day (Friday 28 June).

Croydon Council’s job brokerage service, Croydon Works, and London Learning Consortium are hosting an employment fair at Jury’s Inn, Wellesley Road, between 10am and 2pm.

Employers from a range of industries including Network Rail, London Fire Brigade, McDonald’s and Henry Construction will be in attendance, along with other employers from the health and social care, retail and education sectors.

Jobseekers will also have the  chance to attend different workshops to help improve their employability. The workshops will help with careers planning, CV writing, completing application forms and preparing for interviews, as well as additional workshops to help applicants manage their health and wellbeing and housing support.

“This a great opportunity for our residents to speak to a range of employers and join us in celebrating what we’ve been doing to help everyone in the borough find new and remain in existing employment.

“Come along to the job fair and find out how we, and our partners, can help you get into work.”

Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed, cabinet member for economy and jobs
