Do you know a fantastic fosterer or a noble neighbour? They could be in with a chance to be recognised for their outstanding work.
There is just over a week left for you to nominate your community heroes for the 2018 Mayor’s Civic Awards.
There are 11 categories to win including a new one to recognise someone who makes a real difference to fostering and another, the Housing Hero of the Year, for anyone who organises community events in their area.
The Mayor of Croydon, councillor Bernadette Khan, said: “Our annual Civic Awards celebrate Croydon’s community heroes whose actions have made this borough a better place to live, and they are especially important to me because my mayoral priorities are about inclusiveness and equality.”
The 11 categories include:
- Volunteer of the Year
- Voluntary Group of the Year
- Young Achiever of the Year
- Outstanding Contribution to Foster Care award
- Contribution to Sport and Healthy Living
- Don’t Mess with Croydon – Take Pride
- Housing Hero of the Year
- Good Neighbour award
- Business in the Community
- Fairer Croydon
- Stronger Together
Nominations are open until Monday 3 September and the finalists for each category will be announced later that month.
Finalists are invited to a glittering ceremony on Wednesday 17 October.
