Libraries restart services next week

From Monday, 12 April Croydon libraries will make a phased return to services in line with government and public health guidance.

The Select and Collect service will restart from 12 April and from 26 April a number of libraries will be offering time-limited visits for browsing and pre-booked computer use. It is hoped the reopening of other libraries will be phased in over the summer.

The services are returning in phases because some frontline library staff are still being deployed to Covid-19 services and Broad Green Library is a lateral flow testing centre until summer 2021.

Under the Select and Collect service you will be able to collect the books you ordered before the latest lockdown and place new book reservations online, by email or on the phone. Staff will then contact you with a suitable collection date and time from one of the following ten libraries:

• Central Library
• Ashburton Library
• Bradmore Green Library
• Coulsdon Library
• New Addington Library
• Norbury Library
• Purley Library
• Selsdon Library
• South Norwood Library
• Thornton Heath Library.

Your chosen books will be provided in a bag having been quarantined for 72 hours. If you are returning items, during a Select and Collect appointment, you will be asked to leave them at a returns point and not hand them to staff. They will be quarantined before being available for selection.

From 26 April the following six libraries will also be offering visits for browsing and pre-booked computer use:

• Central Library
• Ashburton Library
• New Addington Library
• Norbury Library
• Selsdon Library
• Thornton Heath Library.

To keep customers safe the scheduled computer sessions will last for 45 minutes to give time for cleaning afterwards.
