More first choice primary school offers for pupils in Croydon

The proportion of children offered a place at their first choice primary school in Croydon has increased.

This year 4,044 applicants – 84 per cent of those who applied for a place – have been offered one at their first preference school, a one per cent increase on last year.

Meanwhile 96 per cent of the 4,815 applicants were offered a place at one of their top three preferred primary schools.

Primary school admissions offers for September 2020 were emailed to parents and carers last night (16 April).

All offers must be accepted or declined by 30 April and this can be done at www.eadmissions.org.uk

“I’m delighted to hear so many pupils have been offered a place at one of their preferred primary schools.

“Our education team and schools have worked incredibly hard to support parents and carers through the admission process, despite the current challenges, so thank you to all of them.”

Councillor Alisa Flemming, cabinet member for children, young people and learning

New applications for a child to join reception in September can still be submitted via www.eadmissions.org.uk

Updated information on appeals will be uploaded online once the government has finalised how these can be heard while obeying social-distancing rules.
