The number of applications for secondary school places in Croydon has increased while the amount of pupils being offered a place at one of their top three secondary schools remains above 80 per cent.
On Monday schoolchildren found out which secondary school they would be offered a place at. In total 4667 applications were received, up from 4571 last year.
In total 84 per cent were offered a place at their first, second or third preference secondary school, with 64 per cent offered their first preference.
Across the borough 86 per cent of secondary schools with an Ofsted rating have been judged outstanding or good. Croydon has one of the largest populations of young people in London, resulting in a consistently high number of applicants, and the council ensured every pupil who applied on time was offered a secondary school place.
Applicants will be able to accept or decline their offer by logging onto their eAdmissions account. The deadline for accepting places is Monday, 15 March.
