Croydon Council is developing a new flagship programme to better support residents’ health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.
Practitioners will work alongside residents who are experiencing challenges that are impacting on their health and wellbeing to offer help and support to get them back on their feet.
The programme will be developed in partnership with local voluntary and community sector organisations, and statutory partners who work at a grassroots level, to reach out to and listen to residents in need. The programme will not duplicate existing services but will enhance and strengthen what is already available.
Executive Mayor Jason Perry agreed at the recent Cabinet meeting (22 January) for the Council’s public health team to develop the new flagship health and wellbeing prevention programme and invest in improved health outcomes for local people.
Better health for all is a key focus in the Executive Mayor’s business plan. The Council will roll out the new programme with local partners this year.
“This is an exciting new programme to improve residents’ health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities. Working with our local community and statutory partners is at the heart of this initiative. We want to create more opportunities for people to easily take positive steps to get early help and provide support whenever needed to improve their lives.”
