This time next week (Thursday 5 May) Croydon voters will head to polling stations to vote for their first ever elected mayor as well as 70 ward councillors to represent the borough.
Croydon’s elected mayor will represent the whole of Croydon and lead the council, one of the largest political mandates of any elected politician in London, speaking up for us all locally, nationally and internationally.
Information about the roles and responsibilities of an elected mayor is available on the council’s mayoral webpages.
If you are voting in person, you do not need to bring your poll card with you but it is worth checking the details of your polling station as it may have changed since the last election. Polling stations will be open on 5 May from 7am to 10pm.
If you are unsure whether you are registered to vote in this year’s elections, please contact the council’s election helpline (0300 3730595) who can confirm if you are able to vote and where your polling station is located.
Voters will receive two ballot papers at polling stations this year – one to elect the Mayor of Croydon and another to elect ward councillors. Full voting instructions and support are provided at polling stations but more information on this year’s elections, including how to vote and a list of all candidates, can be found at – www.croydon.gov.uk/elections2022.
